So I am finally getting my car fixed today. We have had the appt for what seems like weeks now. But it has finally come. No more scrape and dent. So I get to the auto body shop and sign all the usual stuff and am sitting waiting for my rental car. Nick and I joked last night about the car that they would bring, being as the other insurance co. is paying for it, probably some tiny little GEO metro hatchback or some other insaciably tiny car. Anyway, I am there for about 5 min. when a car pulls up. The girl came inside and asked if I was waiting for a rental. I told her yes and we proceeded to pull the car seats from my car and put them into a sortof mid-size malibu. This seemed okay. Better than I had anticipated. So after a quiet ride to the rental company she informs me that this was not the car that I would be driving. I looked around at the other cars in the lot and they all looked, well, not bad. So I walked inside to sign some things and then she informed me that the other insurance had only approved to pay for the absolute cheapest car they rented. And literally, it was the smallest and cheapest. I couldn't believe it when I walked out and saw the car. It looked like one of those cars you see in european countries that is squashed from one end to the other. I didn't even know that America had car s like this. There was almost no leg room in the back, about 8" from the back seat to the front seats. There was no trunk. It is a hatchback that is flat! She told me I could contact the other insurance and try and get them to cover a more expensive car, but informed me that my chances were slim. So I packed up my car seats into this barely 4-door vehicle the size of a tri-sha and drove away. As I headed down the road, car shaking as I approached 40, I thought to myself "I really have it good". I missed my car at that moment. You don't realize how good you have it until it's gone. Power windows, tinted windows, luxury interior, V6!!! Room!!!! Luckily my car will only take a day or two to fix. But I really feel for my safety in this one. As I drove up to Alisha's house, she couldn't help but be jealous. I thought that she was going to fall over laughing. And then she says "well, it's kindof cute". I asked her to trade cars. I laugh now as I look out my front room window at the pile of metal parked out front. I am so thankful I don't have to drive that thing EVERY DAY!
